July Newsletter: Embrace the Energy of Summer

Clear blue sea water

Dear Friends,

Welcome to July! This month, we celebrate the vibrant energy and new beginnings that summer brings. The flowers are in full bloom, and the days are longer, bathing us in more light and sunshine. With this abundance of light, we often find ourselves more active and energized.

Summer is a time of growth, not only for nature but also for ourselves. The element of fire fuels our passions and drives us forward, encouraging us to embrace new opportunities and experiences. However, with this increased energy, our minds can become more active, sometimes making it harder to find restful sleep.

Join Me for Somatic Yoga

In addition to individual psychotherapy, I am pleased to offer Somatic Yoga every Tuesday from 2 pm to 3 pm. Somatic Yoga integrates gentle movement, breathwork, and mindfulness to help you connect with your body and release stored tension. It is especially beneficial for those with ADHD and neurodivergence, as it supports regulation, focus, and emotional balance.

Try a Free Class

To celebrate the summer season, I invite you to try a therapeutic yoga class for free! Simply use the code "Yay Yoga" when you sign up. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the benefits of Somatic Yoga and see how it can enhance your well-being.

Why Somatic Yoga?

Somatic Yoga is particularly effective for individuals with ADHD and neurodivergence. Here’s how it helps:

  • Enhanced Focus: The mindful movements and breathwork improve concentration and reduce distractibility.

  • Emotional Regulation: The practice helps in calming the nervous system, which is crucial for managing emotional responses.

  • Increased Body Awareness: By tuning into physical sensations, individuals can better understand and manage their sensory experiences.

  • Stress Reduction: The gentle, calming nature of Somatic Yoga promotes relaxation and reduces overall stress levels.

  • Active Summer Mind and Restful Sleep: During the summer, our minds can become more active, making it difficult to unwind at night. Somatic Yoga helps quiet the mind and release the day's built-up energy, promoting better sleep. The practice of mindfulness and deep breathing calms the mind, helping you transition smoothly from an active day to a restful night.

Exciting News!

I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted into Level 2 IFS (Internal Family Systems) training in Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO)! IFIO is a specialized approach within IFS that focuses on relationships and intimacy, helping individuals and couples navigate and heal relational dynamics. This advanced training will allow me to deepen my practice and offer even more effective support to my clients in their personal relationships.  In addition, IFIO will offer me the opportunity to help my neurodivergent clients better communicate with their significant others.

In the Spotlight

This month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on Jean Pound, our invaluable billing agent. Jean plays a crucial role in ensuring everyone's billing gets taken care of efficiently and accurately. Her dedication frees up my time, allowing me to focus on helping as many people as possible become the best versions of themselves. Thank you, Jean, for your hard work and commitment to our team!  Cheers to Jean!!!

I look forward to seeing you in class and supporting your journey towards growth and well-being this summer.

Warmest wishes,

Dr. Gretchen
